Josef Sudek: In the Studio

The catalogue accompanied the exhibition Josef Sudek: In the Studio which was held between 2 December 2016 – 27 January 2017 in the Science and Art Gallery of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague. An intimately-conceived exhibition concluded the commemoration of the 120th birthday anniversary and 40th death anniversary of Czech photographer Josef Sudek (1896–1976). It introduced Sudek's perspectival views into the studios of  several Prague-based artists, including Josef Mařatka, Bohumil Kafka, František Zikmund, Emanuel Famíra, Josef Wagner, Hana Wichterlová, Vilém Plocek, Jiří Jaška, Ota Janeček and Andrej Bělocvětov. The catalogue comprises of a text by Vojtěch Lahoda and of the biographical profiles of the photographed studios' owners. The exhibition displayed new prints made by contemporary Czech photographer Vlado Bohdan (b. 1972), from Sudek's original negatives. The negatives are part of the collection of the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
